Klondike Derby... brrrrr

We made it! The Scouts of Pack 432 braved the 'chilly' Yukon and completed the Klondike Derby at the McKeldin area of Patapsco State Park with all the other Cub Scouts of Howard County. Our 4th and 5th graders completed the Webelos Trail, where they had to pull a dog-sled of gear around the 11 stations of rocky terrain. They had to then build various camp fires (with flint & steal), make outdoor emergency shelters, and practice first aid skills among other things.

The K - 3rd graders completed the shorter trail and enjoyed the sunshine while completing their own challenges. Monkey bridge crossing, throwing 'spears' to catch dinner, team-building exercises, and panning for gold. All with big Cub Scout smiles!
